In the inaugural issue of Providence, a journal published by the Institute of Religion & Democracy in Washington, DC, Nigel Biggar argues that, while they should remain true to their characteristic biblical and theological commitments, Christian ethicists also need to sharpen their thinking through analytical philosophical reflection, and make it practically plausible through a close study of history and sustained personal engagement with those who bear the burden of making complex and uncertain moral decisions in public life.
